The Home is fully central heated, carpeted and double glazed throughout with a passenger lift to the first floor. There are three Lounges and a separate Dining Room, all of which are beautifully decorated and furnished to create a homely ambiance.

Every room is equipped with a smoke detector and a nurse call system which offers 24 hour assistance, so essential in creating a positive sense of security.

There are fifteen single bedrooms and two double bedrooms. All the rooms have hot and cold faucets, mirror, shaving point and over-sink lighting. Also included in every bedroom are TV aerial, and bed side reading lights.

The bedrooms have lockable safes and residents are supplied with their own key, allowing full privacy and security for their belongings. The Home also offers digital TV and in-house video to allow residents to select a wide choice of TV channels and movies.

The Home specialises in dementia care and caters for male and female elderly residents of any nationality or ethnic group who are in need of personal care, both short and long stay, respite care residents are also welcome.

The Home Manager and staff are selected for their experience and skills in caring for the elderly, with the residents care, welfare and happiness always being given priority. Our aim is to provide the finest quality care for our residents.

The manager has been working in the care industry for twenty years. He has worked closely with his wife to gain the reputation Radiant Home has and make it the happy home it is to day. He has undertaken extensive training courses both internally and externally, including dementia care, medication control, working with challenging behavior, and management information systems. He is at present working towards his NVQ 4, Home Management.

Catering
Our Home has the advantage of a spacious and comfortable dining area where we offer a varied menu of traditional English and exotic cooking, by our experienced cooking team.
Breakfast is offered in the dinning room between 7:30 and 9:30 AM. Breakfast can also be taken by residents in their bedroom if they wish.
Lunch is the main meal of the day and is served between 12:30 and 1:30 PM. It consists of a three course meal offering choices of starter and main course and a selection of homemade sweets to follow.
High Tea is served between 5:00 and 6:30 PM, again if residents prefer, it can be served in their own room.
Residents birthdays, along with some other special occasions are catered for by the Home.
We supply tea, coffee, and nonalcoholic beverages throughout the day at no extra cost.

Removals and Personal Furniture
We are very aware of the confusion that may result from a major change of environment. In order to minimise the upheaval we encourage residents to bring a few familiar items of furniture if desired. Transport of these items can be arranged complements of the management.

News Papers
Whilst we always have a delivery of daily newspapers available in the lounge, if any resident has a particular preference, we can arrange delivery at cost price.


Entertainment
A full and active social program is available to all residents. We offer many occupational, social and recreational facilities both in the Home and within the community. Whilst there is no compulsion to join in with the facilities offered, respect will be given to those who wish not to participate. Trips are arranged to places of interest as well as annual holidays, if required.

Smoking
Radiant Home is a non-smoking Home.


Alcohol
Alcohol is not restricted in the Home provided it is not abused, does not conflict with medication and does not interfere with other residents.

Personal Care and Services
A doctor is available to prescribe medical care and needs but residents are free to use their own GP when possible. Prescriptions are delivered to the Home as required. Residents may continue to manage their own prescribed medicines for as long as they are able, but our staff are available at all times to give assistance.
Reflexology, Physiotherapy, Aromatherapy and Flexo-therapy can be arranged as required and a Chiropodist visits the Home on a regular basis.

Opticians and Dentists
Residents may make appointments with their own dentists or opticians, otherwise a dental surgeon and ophthalmic optician may be contacted through the home manager when required.

Hair Dressing
The services of a hair dresser who visits the home regularly offers a complete hair care programme at concessionary rates.

Worship
Residents are encouraged to go to local places of worship and will be assisted by staff as required, alternatively ministers can visit the home if required.

Laundry
A full laundry service is available in the Home at no extra cost to avoid the necessity of residents having to perform the duty for themselves. However, should they prefer to make their own arrangements, this will be quite in order. Areas are available for residents to wash small articles if required. NOT included in the ‘free of charge’ laundry service is dry cleaning, these Items are collected as required.
Whilst every possible care is taken with clothes, Radiant Home does not accept liability for loss or damage to items of clothing undergoing laundry or dry-cleaning.

Shopping
A few local shops are within easy reach of the front gate of the Home and they sell a variety of goods including newspapers, (magazines can be stocked to order), confectionery, greeting cards, postage stamps, toiletries, there is also a local fish and chip shop in the same row. The City and Bulwell Shopping Centres are just a short journey away and are served by regular bus routes.

Library
A supply of books is provided at the home, in both large and regular print, also the local public library take special requests for books which can be delivered and collected.

Valuables
All valuable articles and money should be kept under lock and key. All bedrooms have lockable safes, and residents can hold their own key. Alternatively, valuables can be held in the home’s safe at the residents own risk.
Radiant Home cannot accept responsibility for client’s money or personal belongings.

Insurance
Radiant Home is covered by public liability Indemnity Insurance for £5,000,000, and also, every resident’s personal effects are covered for fire and theft, for up to £500.00 on any one claim.

Finances
Whilst we are forbidden to be directly involved in the personal financial affairs of residents, we realise that this area can be a major concern. If requested, we can arrange for the services of an independent Financial Advisor to be made available.

Visitors
Visiting hours are unrestricted and facilities for privacy during such visits will be made available when required.
Visitors are most welcome to dine with residents (for a small charge) by prior arrangement with the home. Residents are encouraged to treat the home as though it were their own.

Pets
Small pets can be accommodated in the home e.g. fish in tanks birds in cages etc. however, no responsibilities will be accepted for pets, although residents will be given every assistance in the care of them.
